Common questions

E-collar — your questions answered

What is an e-collar used for?

The protective cone worn after surgery or during a skin condition, to stop a pet licking or chewing a wound. It is the single most effective way to prevent self-inflicted damage while healing.

How long must my pet wear it?

Usually ten to fourteen days after surgery, or until your vet confirms healing. Removing it early — even briefly, unsupervised — is a common reason wounds reopen and need re-suturing.

Can my pet eat and drink with a cone on?

Yes, though it takes adjustment. Raise the bowls or use shallow, wide dishes; most pets adapt within a day or two.

Are soft cones as effective as rigid ones?

They are more comfortable but less effective for determined pets, and flexible enough that a persistent animal can reach the wound. For surgical sites in the first week, rigid is safer.

Which e-collar brands can I buy in Ahmedabad?

We stock e-collar from 3 brands — Miou and Wuff, Mahima Enterprize and Trixie — 14 products in this category, available at both our Sindhubhavan Road and South Bopal stores in Ahmedabad.
